Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Lalo, a language learning web application operated by [Company name — TBD] ([Registered address — TBD, EU (Estonia or Austria)]). By using Lalo you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Lalo.

2. The service

Lalo provides spaced-repetition vocabulary learning for the 1,000 most frequent words in 12 languages. Lalo is available as a free tier (guest-first, no account required) and via optional one-time purchases (Lifetime and individual vocabulary packs).

The free tier is supported by ads. You may purchase Lifetime (€49 one-time) to remove ads permanently and unlock all packs released up to your purchase date.

The service includes optional email reminders for authenticated users (weekly recap, streak nudges, re-engagement, etc.). See our Privacy Policy for details on email tracking (open/click) and how to manage preferences.

Cookies and tracking technologies are governed by our Privacy Policy.

3. Accounts

You may use Lalo without an account. If you create one, you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old (16 in some EU jurisdictions) to create an account.

4. Paid plans & billing

Lalo has no subscriptions. We offer two kinds of one-time purchases: Lifetime (€49 one-time — removes ads forever and includes every pack released up to your purchase date) and individual vocabulary packs (€4 each, with bundle pricing at €9 for 3 and €25 for 10). All purchases are non-recurring and charged once at checkout via Stripe. The core 1,000-word learning experience is free forever. EU consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal where applicable under Directive 2011/83/EU; by accessing digital content during that period you acknowledge and consent to the waiver of that right per Article 16(m).

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Lalo to break the law, infringe someone else's rights, or harass others.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the service beyond what the UI allows.
• Share your account or try to bypass paid features.
• Upload malicious content via custom word lists or any other input.

6. User content

You retain ownership of content you create inside Lalo (custom word lists, display name, etc.). You grant us a non-exclusive license to host and display that content as needed to run the service. You are responsible for making sure your content does not infringe third-party rights.

7. Intellectual property

Lalo, its logo, the Lalo brand, the word-list curation, the SRS scheduling, and the software itself are owned by [Company name — TBD] and protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. You get a limited, non-transferable, revocable license to use the service as intended.

8. Disclaimers

Lalo is provided "as is" and "as available". While we aim for accurate translations and a reliable service, we do not warrant that the service will be error-free or that translations are perfect. Use Lalo at your own discretion.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, [Company name — TBD] is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Lalo. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited (including for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

10. Termination

You can stop using Lalo at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms. Guest data lives on your device and is under your control.

11. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Governing law — TBD (Estonia or Austria)]. Consumer protection rules of your country of residence still apply where mandatory. The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
